YEAR 3 student Alyssa Mulholland, from Wellington Point, is ready to start a new chapter in her life and, at the tender age of nine, has become a published author.
The budding writer decided to wade into the world of publishing after reading a series of "flip the flap" books.
She liked the series so much she took a page out of her school teacher's book and decided to write her own.
After publishing her book Darth, grade three teacher at Wellington Point State School Julieanne Wallace, encouraged her students to put pen to paper.
Alyssa was entralled with the idea and came up with the 22-page colourful Who's in the Grass?
Readers have to guess what type of animal is hiding in the grass before opening a flap to reveal their identity.
A monkey, turkey, bee, dog and even Alyssa are found between the pages of the colourful children's book.
Mum Kerry said she was proud of her daughter's first effort and said she hoped it would be a best-seller.
It will go on sale online for $19.97 and is likely to be sold in local bookstores over Christmas.
