Ten people were treated for shock and minor injuries at Redland Hospital after Thursday's train crash at Cleveland station.
The track, between Cleveland and Wellington Point reopened on Friday morning after it was shut following last month's devastating storms.
One woman was inside a toilet block which narrowly missed being crushed by the train and the train driver was also treated for minor injuries.
The others injured were passengers inside the front carriage of the train.
Birkdale resident Lisa Willoughby, 49, who was in the front carriage, said she braced for the impact after suspecting there was something wrong with the train when it left Wellington Point station.
"The train started playing up from Wellington Point Station because it started to shudder on the tracks. It was running about 10 to 15 minutes late, but that's not unusual," she said.
"When we got to Ormiston station, it really struggled to slow down. It eventually stopped and took off again, but once we were on the straight track to Cleveland I knew something really was wrong."
Trains between Cleveland and Murarrie stations were cancelled on Thursday but services resumed from Wellington Point on Friday.
Extra buses are running from Middle Street in Cleveland CBD and the Shore Street West bus stop was re-opened on Friday.
A $1.2million refurbishment at the station to renovate the toilet block, refit the ticket office and install turnstiles was completed in October.
