REALtime Redland City weather observations are now available through a new weather station at Birkdale.
The Birkdale Weather Station has been established by James Palmer who operates Lambdatron a company consulting in, and manufacturing weather stations.
Lambdatron typically builds weather stations for mining or construction companies that need their own weather data as part of the performance monitoring of their contracts.
Mr Palmer has based his company at Birkdale and has decided to showcase what can be done with realtime weather observation via mobile phone, tablet or computer
His website www.birkdale weather.com.au updates every 30 seconds with a 'dashboard' style display of current temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, rainfall since 9am and rain rate.
The website also has panoramic photos of the sky from the weather station, which update every hour.
Mr Palmer said the weather information on the site would be a handy reference point for people in Redland City and users are able 'drill down' to detailed data about the local weather.
"Because the data is available in real time, users have a chance to see the changing weather indicators, for example, leading up to a storm," Mr Palmer said,
Mr Palmer said he would continue to develop the station and make its data freely available to the people of the Redlands.
