TWO groups of commuters have had lucky escapes after separate car fires on the same Alexandra Hills street during Thursday's peak.
Cleveland firefighters turned out to Vienna Road near the Finucane Road intersection at about 7.30am after reports of a car's engine on fire.
The blaze in the small car was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.
Firefighters returned to the same road 40 minutes later, this time near the Redruth Road traffic lights, where a four-wheel-drive's engine caught fire.
The female driver and her children escaped the vehicle without injury, but the fire destroyed the engine and front section of the four-wheel drive.
Both incidents caused slight delays through Alexandra Hills during the morning work and school peak as the fires were extinguished and the vehicles were cleared from the scene.
