SPECIAL Crime Squad detectives today returned to Badgingarra to conduct further searches in relation to the investigation into the 1999 disappearance of Hayley Dodd.
A mobile police facility has been established at Badgingarra Community Centre.
Up to 18 police officers will be involved in the search.
Further searches will be conducted over the coming week.
During late November 2013, after a substantial new lead on the missing teenager, a forensic search of the property on North West Road, close to the school, was initiated after the Special Crime Squad had conducted a review into the case.
The Crime Squad believed they knew what they were looking for.
It was the fourth time the property in question was searched, but police were very clear that the current owner of the property was not connected to the investigation.
However, the ex-owner of the search property who lived and worked in the area, Francis John Wark, is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence in Queensland for rape of a female hitchhiker whom he had held captive in 2007.
The woman managed to get free of her rope binding and ran to a neighbouring house for help.
Wark sold the Badgingarra property shortly after the 17-year-old Hayley disappeared moving to a small town in the far north of Queensland.
Detectives from Perth travelled to Townsville to talk to the convicted rapist over the disappearance of the missing teenager.
Police have not confirmed if Wark is a suspect in the Dodd case.
A full forensic team including the Special Crime Squad and a team from UWA were part of the search which continued for several weeks.
Hayley’s disappearance has long been a case that has proven difficult but one that WA Police remain committed to solving.
More than 10 witnesses report seeing Hayley walking on North West Road, with the last witness reporting seeing her about 5km east of Badgingarra Road.
She was last seen crouching down on the side of the road and looking into a day pack that she was carrying.
Witnesses report driving past North West Road and not seeing Hayley.
Hayley was last seen on North West Road near Badgingarra between 11.30am and 12pm on July 29, 1999.
Detectives have narrowed Hayley's time of disappearance down to a 20-minute window on July 29.
Hayley’s mother, Margaret Dodd said her daughter was last seen standing on North West Road about 11.35am by a travelling salesman and she was gone when a motorcyclist passed the area about 11.55am.
The family has enlisted psychics, a private investigator, an Aboriginal tracker a Cavadere dog and a British geographical profiler in the past decade to try to crack the case.
A coronial inquest was set to take place in January this year after years of campaigning by Margaret Dodd, but was postponed while Police continued their investigation.
The Coroner's Court confirmed it had put an inquest into Hayley's disappearance on hold while police continue their search of the Badgingarra property.
In light of the search the enquiry had changed from a missing person inquiry to an “active police inquiry”.
It has been 14 years since Hayley was last seen alive.
