Join in island fun
BAY Islands Bloomers over-55s group invites all mainland over-55s to take a bay cruise from Redland Bay to Macleay Island on Friday, August 24, and join us for a free morning tea and entertainment.
The ferry, from Redland Bay marina on Banana Street, departs at 9am. Return tickets should be bought at the jetty ticket office, which is the cheapest option. On arrival, the Progress Hall is a short walk from the ferry. Take the first right into Russell Terrace and the hall is on the right. Pick-up can be arranged if required. The morning finishes about 11.30am and there is a ferry back to Redland Bay at 11.33am if you should want to go straight home. There are shops and a cafe close by if you would like to linger a little longer. Do join us, to round off your Seniors Week outings with a trip to our friendly, tranquil island. Capalaba Seniors
CAPALABA Seniors meet at the library building on Fridays at 9am for indoor bowls and cards (500). It's $5 to join, $2 to play, $1 raffles. Morning tea is supplied. CLEVELAND Seniors meet at the Donald Simpson Over 50s Leisure Centre every Thursday at 9am for indoor bowls, cards and bingo. New members and visitors are welcome. Morning tea is supplied. Have a game of darts
REDLANDS Over 50s Social Darts club meets from 9.45am to noon every Friday at Redlands Multi Sports Club, Judy Holt Park, Randall Road, Birkdale.
We are a friendly group who welcome all new members, dart players and non-dart players.We always have spare sets of darts for you to borrow. The cost is only $1 membership for the Friday darts and 50c a week fees.
During Seniors Week we will hold a darts competition on Friday, August 24 from 9.45am. The cost is $2, which includes morning tea. This is always a fun morning with lucky door prize, raffles and prizes. For more information contact Pat 0409 723 250.
Cleveland NSA
CLEVELAND National Seniors club meets on the third Friday of the month in the Gallipoli room (renamed Legends Room) at the RSL. Doors open at 9.15am for 9.45am start.
The cost of entry is $3 and all Redlands Seniors 50 and over are invited. Come and meet the new committee. There is still time to book and pay for Driving Miss Daisy with Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones at the Playhouse on Wednesday, February 6 for the 1pm show. The cost is $69.90, with payment due by August 31.
On Saturday, September 8, travel to Laidley for the Spring Festival at a cost of $28. The coach leaves Capalaba at 7.30am. To book phone Peter on 3207 0348.
Redland Bay Seniors
REDLAND Bay Seniors club is looking forward to Seniors Week.
Congratulations to Sonya, one of our parchment card girls, who took out first and a third at the Ekka. Welcome to new members Anne and John.
On Friday, August 31 there will be a sausage sizzle at Victoria Point shopping centre. On Tuesday, September 25 there is a trip to Toowoomba for the Carnival of Flowers. See Trevor for bookings.
The club opens at 8.30am on Mondays with square/line dancing and parchment card making. At noon there is carpet bowls, bingo and 500 cards. On Wednesdays there is also bowls at noon. Entry is $3, membership $5. Refreshments and biscuits are available. Phone Laurie on 3829 1435.
Wello Pt Seniors
WELLINGTON Point Seniors play social bowls in the Community Hall, Birkdale Road, Wellington Point at 9am on Saturdays and 12.45pm on Tuesdays.
