THE Capalaba Scout Group has vacancies in the Joey Scout section for boys and girls aged six or seven. Joey Scouts are the youngest members in scouting.

Soroptimist dinner meeting
Soroptimist International Bayside invites members of the public to the next dinner meeting at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club, 92 Wondall Rd, Manly West, on Monday, August 27, at 6.45 for a 7pm start. The cost is $25. Guest speaker Jean McDonald-Smith is a researcher, health advocate and author of How to Save the Planet from your Bathtub. Her presentation will reveal important insights into the impact of chemicals on our lives and will highlight how we can improve our health and home environment. Yurara Art Society News.
An exhibition of works by Yurara vice-president Barbra Elvin opens in Yurara Gallery, Pinklands at 6pm on Friday, August 31. The exhibition will open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 1, 2 and 8, 9. Everyone is welcome to pop in and see the paintings of this exacting and accomplished artist.
A number of Yurara members will demonstrate their painting technique in Stockland Mall, Cleveland on Thursday, August 23 between 10am and 4pm. The demonstration is part of Stockland's Seniors Week celebrations. Everyone is welcome to come along and quiz the artists on any aspect of their work.

WATERLOO Bay Stamp Club meets at the Judy Holt Centre, Redland Sports Centre, Randall Road, Birkdale, on the first Thursday of the month at 1pm and the fourth Monday of the month at 7pm. Coochie Art Group
LAST Tuesday, Coochie Art Group was treated to a very special Fun Day of re-discovery and renewed friendship. Don Waters, who had previously been a fulltime tutor for seven years, was invited back to share his enthusiasm of art. Working with charcoal, Don created a magnificent masterpiece, which he then enhanced by covering it with layers of acrylic glazes. The end result was stunning. Don was welcomed as a very special guest to help us celebrate the lead-up to the 40th Coochie Art Group Retrospective Exhibition 2013. To portray the skills of our former tutor and capture our group at work, we engaged Michael Kersnovske, a very talented videographer, to film the day, which will be shown as part of 'our story' during our 40th Retrospective Exhibition in 2013. The next meeting will be a two-day Watercolour Workshop with Charles Sluga.
Eastern Suburbs Bridge Club
EASTERN Suburbs Bridge Club, located in the Judy Holt Park, is Randall Road, Birkdale, extends a warm welcome to all. Although small, the club is an enthusiastic and competitive group of people focused on fun and friendliness. Join in the fun Monday evenings at 7pm. No partner is needed, just come along.
