ACCORDING to Val Decker, flowers say it all.
On Sunday they will be saying it all to strangers as the Redland Floral Art group participates in an international act of kindness, leaving bouquets of flowers throughout the Redlands for anyone to collect, take home or pass on.
As treasurer of the group, Val said she embraced the concept which was taking off around the world.
"We hope to make 50 to 60 bouquets as many as we can and we will be leaving them anywhere at bus stops, churches, cafes, park benches, hospitals.
"There will be a tag on the flowers saying that whoever finds them can pick them up and adopt them," she said.
Val said she hoped to spread the joy that flowers brought in this way.
"We may never see the reactions of people and never hear where the flowers go, but we hope they bring some joy. We may never know that these flowers made someone's day, but we hope they do," she said.
Val emailed a local flower producer for flowers and members were picking them from their gardens to create the posies, on the previous day. Any donations towards the bouquets would be welcome on vdeck59@gmail.com
The Redland Floral Art group meets on the second Friday of the month at the Ormiston Scout Den with demonstrations or workshops each month.
There are about 20 members. In June, the theme is "a night at the opera" and members are encouraged to create their interpretation in flowers. Val said she would create an arrangement around a high heeled shoe.
"Flowers speak so many words for every occasion. If you can't say it in words, you can say it with flowers. They bring happiness and brighten every day," Val said.
