FIRE fighters from south-east Queensland joined forces at Kedron this morning to combat a massive simulated bush fire "threatening" Redland City, Berpengary and Pullenvale.
The week-long Exercise Headache, organised by Fire and Emergency Services Minister Jack Dempsey, aimed to refine disaster management plans in the event such a scenario ever became a reality.
More than 250 emergency services staff completed a tactical exercise at Lytton in May and this week staff were improving incident management.
Mr Dempsey said the state boosted the fire services budget to more than $600million in a bid to develop world-leading services.
Redlands MP Peter Dowling said local personnel worked out of the Redland Bay incident management centre as well as form the State Operations Centre.
“Redlands City is diverse representing areas from the bush to the bay and local firies are training to deal with all those terrains," he said.
“Exercise Headache will ensure when bushfire season begins at the end of September, we are ready to protect life and property from all scenarios."
