Redlands MP Peter Dowling will have to wait to find out if he will be challenged by another LNP candidate for his seat, despite nominations opening for pre-selection in Capalaba and Cleveland today.
The LNP called for pre-selection in 16 seats including two of the three within the boundary of Redland City today.
Mr Dowling, who was involved in a sexting scandal last year, said he was not concerned Redlands was not included and was unsure of the rationale behind which seats were selected.
He said pre-selection nominations were yet to be called in 38 other seats and it was possible the party was calling for nominations in seats in alphabetical order.
The party announced it had opened nominations in Algester, Beaudesert, Broadwater, Burleigh, Capalaba and Cleveland.
Candidates are also being sought in Glasshouse, Greenslopes, Hervey Bay, Ipswich, Ipswich West, Logan, Maryborough, Southern Downs, Surfers Paradise and Sunnybank.
