REDLAND motorists experienced a horror start to the working week after two crashes on Mount Cotton Road caused peak-hour chaos.
Emergency services were called to the road between Hillview Road and Mount Cotton State School just before 7am after a collision between a truck and car. The driver of the car was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with severe facial and chest injuries.
The truck driver, suffering from a minor head injury, was taken to the same hospital.
Traffic was diverted to Valley Way, causing heavy delays along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Giles Road, Double Jump Road and Heinemann Road.
The crash is the second serious collision between a car and truck along the road in three weeks.
The situation worsened after another crash just before 9am on Monday, five kilometres south of the first collision site.
Meanwhile, a Cornubia motor-cyclist died after a collision with a car in the Brisbane CBD on Sunday.
The 47-year-old man was taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital after the crash on Ann Street at about 7.40pm, but he later died.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Fairfield man, was not physically injured.
