A 15-year-old girl has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a woman was stabbed outside a Cairns shopping centre on Monday.
The 34-year-old woman was taken to Cairns Base Hospital and is in a stable condition with non life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the chest and abdomen.
Police said she had approached the girl in the Raintrees Shopping Centre in Manunda, after the girl had been involved in a scuffle with another teenage girl.
An argument broke out when the pair went across the road from the shopping centre, and police allege the 15-year-old then stabbed the woman.
A police spokesman said the trio were all known to each other.
The 15-year-old girl will be dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
