The Queensland Branch Rolls Royce Owners’ Club held its annual concour d'elegance last Sunday.
Sixty four very classy vehicles were presented and displayed to perfection in the grounds of Ormiston House.
Every style of car was represented; limousines, sedans and convertibles old and new proving the ageless appeal of this marque of vehicle.
Many of the vehicles had a story to tell. There is the 1927 Rolls Royce built in Sydney by Jackson, Jones and Collins. Low mileage with only 13,700 miles on the odometer. That’s a very respectable 157 miles per year on a 7.77 litre inline six cylinder engine.
Another there is the 6.75 litre V8 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. Once owned by Sir Leslie Thiess the car was frequently used to entertain his friend, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen.
Entertainment on the afternoon was provided by the ladies of the Eastside Belles. Decked out in period costume, they provided a classy and pleasing backdrop to the afternoon.
