An RACQ survey has revealed the most popular names young drivers give to their car, with “The Beast” topping the list.
RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie said more than half of younger drivers admitted to naming their cars, with women the most likely to personalise their ride.
“Many people have a special connection to their car, so it’s not surprising many drivers give them a nickname,” Ms Ritchie said.
“Some of the results are quite creative but many of nicknames are inspired by the car itself, like the Mitsubishi Lancer or Suzuki Swift.”
Ms Ritchie said some of the popular names included Taylor Swift, Betty, Suzie, Bubbles, and Lancelot.
“One of the most frequently named cars is the Suzuki Swift,” Ms Ritchie said.
“That’s not all that surprising though, with the Swift being a very common car for first time drivers.”
Ms Ritchie encouraged drivers who loved their cars to treat them with respect.
“If you love your car enough to name it, make sure you care enough to keep it clean, regularly serviced and topped up with fuel.”
