This weekend the Redlands United Red Devils host another Friday night National Premier Leagues (NPL) Blockbuster at the Cleveland Showgrounds as the start of two back-to-back games for the Red Devils that can set up their 2014 season.
Brisbane City make the trip to Cleveland on Friday night for Round 24 of the NPL and South-West Queensland Thunder make the trek on Tuesday evening to play the rain delayed Round 12 fixture.
The Red Devils are buoyed by their 4-2 victory over Northern Fury last Sunday in Townsville, while Brisbane City are coming off another home defeat last Friday night 0-2 against Moreton Bay Jets.
As the competition table heats up at the serious end of the season, the Red Devils will be looking to continue their recent good form in what is expected to be an exciting season finale. Neither the Red Devils nor the consistent Brisbane City will want to drop any points at this stage of the season.
Last Sunday three first half goals to Elliott Ronto, Nico Bechar and Graham Fyfe set up a 3-1 half time lead before Ronto sealed the victory for the Red Devils with his second on 52 minutes.
Redlands coach Matt Chandler would have been delighted with his young side. The Red Devils were impressive against Fury, especially during the first half. They face a stern challenge this Friday evening at home against City, who are wanting to bounce back into winning form after back-to-back defeats. The game kicks off Friday at 7.15pm with the Under 18s and Youth playing on Sunday afternoon.
After Friday evening's game the Red Devils face a short turn around to be ready for SWQ Thunder on Tuesday at 7.30pm at the Showgrounds. So come on down to the Cleveland Showgrounds, Waterloo Street, Cleveland, wear red and support the Red Devils.
