This Saturday will be the last double header for season 2014. The Open1's will play Slacks Creek and the Open3's will face Springwood.
Redlands will need to be at their best with Slacks Creek coming off a good win against Wynnum, they are pressing for a top finish.
Last week Redlands travelled to Beenleigh needing to play as they have not played due to forfeits in the past week, with the semi's coming up it was a match they need to win and win well.
This was a game that didn't reach any great heights, Redlands was always in control and coach Shane Munro wanted his team to complete their sets and be patient in their build up.
With early try's to captain Linton Taituma Redlands was well on their to a win, midway through the half hooker Craig Matheson was sent from the field by the referee for placing a an opposing player in a dangerous position in the tackle. This caused the unscheduled changes with Mitch Reading going to dummie half roll, Redlands went to the break leading 28-0.
With Redlands playing a man down this created space for Beenleigh which they scored 2 try's, the second try that was scored could go down as one of the fasts try's scored from the kick off. Beenleigh kicked the ball deep in the Redlands half, the ball has hit the cross bar on the full and come back to the 30mtr line were the Beenleigh runners coming though have picked up the loose ball and passed to his support runner to score a very good try. Redlands re grouped from that try and put a couple of quick try's on by Garth Jones and Lucas McIntyre with the final try scored by Ben Hayward who has recently been used as a utility player covering several positions including on the wing, Redlands run out winners 46-18. Kick off will be at 1:30 and 3:00 come along and enjoy an afternoon on the hill and then team presentations in the leagues club at the conclusion of the main game.
