A MEMORIAL service will be held on Friday, August 22, for Phil Macqueen, who passed away last Thursday after a short, but strong fight in hospital being treated for leukaemia.
A family spokesperson said Phil's condition became critical when he contracted Influenza A while being treated. In his weakened condition, he was unable to recover.
For more than 30 years Phil's skill and compassion touched the lives of many people who came to see him at his acupuncture clinic.
His passions extended beyond his craft; he was also a talented musician and avid sailor who could be heard playing his guitar over the seas at Peel Island.
He shared his love of the ocean with his soulmate Julie Geldlard and his sons Duncan, Garreth and Corin.
Friday's memorial service will begin at 2pm at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Manly.
A celebration of his life will follow at the same venue.
