A MAN accused of lighting a fire just metres from gas cylinders at a Cleveland petrol station faced court on Thursday.
The 27-year-old, from NSW, has been charged with arson and other offences after wheelie bins, vegetation and real estate signs were set alight over the weekend.
A police spokesman said some of the torched wheelie bins were placed next to Redland United Football Club’s equipment shed.
Another fire was lit in vegetation near the Shell service station on Bloomfield Street, only metres from a row of gas cylinders.
The man was arrested on Monday and charged over the incidents.
He appeared before Cleveland Magistrates Court, where his case was adjourned until October 28.
