Updated after QPS issues correction
POLICE say one of the cars involved in a fatal crash at Alexandra Hills on Thursday afternoon was suspected to have been stolen.
A release has also confirmed initial investigations indicate an unmarked police car had tried to intercept the vehicle before the crash.
A woman in her 60s died when two cars collided at the intersection of Finucane Road and Vienna/Allenby roads in Alexandra Hills at about 1.30pm.
A man and woman* in the other car were transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
Five ambulance crews and two QFES crews worked to free the injured using cutting equipment.
Initial information indicates the suspected stolen vehicle was travelling along Finucane Road when it allegedly ran a red light and smashed into the other car.
Finucane Road is closed in both directions, with diversions via McDonald Road from the east and Cambridge Road from the west.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, as is Ethical Standards Command over the unmarked vehicle's attempted intercept.
*Information supplied by QPS Media and subsequently published in an earlier version of the story stated two men were taken to hospital. QPS Media issued a correction at 6.24pm.
