Southeast Queensland is in for a gloomy end to the working week, with showers predicted to last most of the day.
Showers began falling on Thursday night and continued on Friday morning, however rainfall totals across the Brisbane region have been low.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Dean Narramore said Brisbane totals were only "about one to two millimetres", while two millimetres had fallen in Camp Hill and three millimetres at Aspley.
"It's large areas of rain if you look on the radar and it's continuing for a while, but it's very light," he said.
"Expect these showery, cloudy conditions to continue for much of the day. There's very little chance of seeing sun."
Rainfall totals have been higher on the Sunshine Coast, with about 15 millimetres falling in Maroochydore.
Mr Narramore said the conditions across the southeast were caused by a combination of a trough off the coast and a high south of Australia directing a moist easterly onshore flow into southeast Queensland.
According to the bureau forecast, showers are predicted over the weekend and for the next week in Brisbane with maximum temperatures in the low 20s hovering at about the August average.
