THE state government is in discussions with potential developers of the Cleveland train station into a shopping and residential precinct.
The Transport Department remained tight-lipped about how many tenders it had received since they were called on April 4 and closed on May 19.
It said discussions with all tenderers would remain confidential and no start date would be set until a successful bidder was chosen.
As the owners of the land, the state asked for submissions from developers with experience in medium- to large-scale, mixed-use developments and construction of transport infrastructure.
Designs must support a transport hub and commuter car park, with no loss of parking spaces.
It must also provide disability and wheelchair access in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
After the state has assessed proposals and awarded a contract, Redland City Council will assess any development application.
A council spokesman guaranteed council would ensure the design included “sufficient” parking and was in line with its city plan.
