James Morrison will have someone extra special in the audience when he performs at Redfest on Sunday.
His wife Judy is coming to watch him perform.
James will be performing with a five-piece band including Australian guitarist Ian Date and singer Hetty Kate, bringing to the stage "the happy stuff".
"When you play jazz, there is the blues and then there is the happy stuff. This is what you play at a festival," James said.
His repertoire incudes All of Me, Sweet Lorraine and Basin Street Blues.
"I love playing with Ian. He's a very talented player. I always say I have a date with strings. I promise the joke usually comes out better than that!" he said.
"There is something about a festival. It's a great atmosphere in which to play. When you play regionally, you are playing to an audience that knows one another -- you are playing to a community. No concert is held in a vacume," James said.
James said when he told his wife he was playing at Redfest, she responded: "That sounds like fun. I might come to that one."
"I plan on eating a strawberry -- at least one -- while I am there."
James is a new performer to the Redfest stage but has been to the Redlands before, playing with and for Sheldon and Ormiston colleges.
"It is wonderful to hear young players. I find it inspiring," he said.
James said he hoped to return to the Redlands again, saying he enjoyed the life of a touring musician.
"We moved house in Sydney three months ago and I think I have only spent three nights there. I have spent more time in other places," he said.
