LOTS of rain across South East Queensland in the past few weeks has flushed out a late extended run of bream.
Bait is out-fishing lures and plastics in locations where the water is discoloured.
Most of the action has been around rock walls, bridges and jetties.
There have also been a lot of flathead caught, but they do not like dirty water so for best success anglers should fish around bar entrances on the run-in tide where clean saline water is flowing.
Since the recent rains, there have been a few better quality mulloway caught from estuaries and the surf this week.
Deeper holes around bar entrances have been the pick of locations.
Whiting catches continue to improve and anglers should avoid areas of discoloured water.
Surf fishing is improving after the recent big seas. There has been a good run of bream, flathead and tailor this week.
The bay island shallows have turned up a lot of bream, a few pan size snapper and good numbers of chopper tailor.
Deeper reefs and wrecks are fishing better than the shallows for snapper.
There were reports of a few bigger mulloway caught from the bay on slabs of fresh tailor off the eastern side of Mud Island.
Diver whiting have been hard to find and anglers who find a school should get numbers, but it is just hard to find the schools.
Top spots have been the eastern side of the bay around the Sand Hills and Shark Spit.
The offshore reports this week include snapper and pearl perch on the bottom and a few kingfish and cobia on live baits.
Trolling is still producing mainly tuna.
On the freshwater scene, there has been great bass action in all local impoundments.
Hinze has been productive, as has North Pine Dam.
Wivenhoe and Somerset have not fished as well but there are still plenty of fish being caught, especially by those using live shrimp.
