Redlands RSL Snooker Coaching Clinic is celebrating the achievements of two of its young snooker players after the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council's Australian Junior Teams Challenge in Albury last month.
Jayden Dinga, 9, of Victoria Point, and Hayden Goode, 14, of Alexandra Hills, represented Queensland in the Under 12 and Under 15 age groups respectively.
The Queensland team was runner-up at the national event and the local boys, who also competed in individual events, both emerged as the undefeated champions of their age groups.
Jayden won the Under 12 Australian Snooker Championship and Hayden won the Under 15 Australian Snooker Championship and Under 15 Australian Billiards Championship.
Coach Bob Turpin said the boys' results were "wonderful".
"This was a big effort from them both," he said.
"They went through undefeated against the best players from the other states and that's a big achievement. We're very proud of them."
The players' wins come on the heels of Capalaba snooker ace Kurt Brown's top 16 placing at the World Under 21 Championships in Al-Fujairah, United Arab Emirates earlier this year.
Kurt also began his coaching in snooker at Redlands RSL Snooker Coaching Clinic as a nine-year-old and has gone on to win a number of state, national and international awards and now ranks 10th in Queensland.
Redlands RSL Snooker Coaching Clinic offers free coaching to people aged eight to 18, with all coaches accredited and holding a Blue Card.
