THE Cleveland Room at the Grand View Hotel was transformed into a fairyland recently when Bryan and Bev Phillips, of Alexandra Hills, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with four generations of their family and friends.
Their three daughters Diane, Sandy and Sherry and granddaughter Romana worked together to surprise Bryan and Bev with the wedding reception they never had.
The willow pattern, a favourite of Bev's, was enhanced with white willow trees dripping in 'diamonds'.
The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 17.
They began their life together as sweethearts on a property in North Queensland.
The couple now enjoy their two great-grandchildren. Aysia, the youngest, who was thrilled to get dressed up in blue tulle like a fairy, called the room, " a fairyland" when she saw it.
All six grandchildren, Romana, Bobby, Ebonney, Ricky, James and Nina attended. Bobby travelled from Sydney for the event and Ebonney from Bundaberg.
Bryan and Bev, who have lived in the Redlands for more than 20 years, enjoyed catching up with friend of 45 years Betty Gibbons, and Bryan's sister, Doris Taunton.
