Tree clearing not related to development
10.30am Concerns by some people that tree clearing near a property in Wellington Street, Ormiston - currently being assessed by Redland City Council for re-development - turned out to be a tree lopping service cutting up a fallen tree in the back yard of property in Ivory Lane.
Fire on Straddie
Fire crews are monitoring a fire in accessible bush near the Yarraman mine on North Stradbroke Island which began last night. No property is threatened.
Warning about schoolies on Straddie
7:30am Police have reminded parents and young people to act responsibly during school holiday celebrations on North Stradbroke Island.
An influx of senior high school students expected later this week.
Additional police will be sent to the island to bolster the number of officers already posted at Dunwich Station and Point Lookout Police Beat.
Acting Inspector Janelle Harm Bayside Patrol Group has urged parents to consider the possible consequences of providing alcohol to young people, also reminding them that a decision to supply alcohol to an underage child could result in fines of up to $3000.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has left open the possibility that Australia's attacks on Islamic State militants could spread across the Iraq border into the terror group's heartland in Syria.
