Police have dismissed a viral Facebook post alleging the discovery of dog pelts and meat in Alexandra Hills as a hoax.
The post, shared by more than 2000 people since it was published on Sunday, claims police raided a home in the suburb last week and discovered 136 dog pelts and an illegal butcher shop.
But in a statement to Redland City Bulletin, Queensland Police Media confirmed the claims were completely unfounded.
"Police have not received any complaints in relation to the selling of dog meat and/or the keeping of dog pelts in the bayside area," the statement said.
"It can however be confirmed that the Facebook page, where the information was published, relates to a fictitious newspaper."
