Police on North Stradbroke Island have seized alcohol and issued fines as senior high school student’s travel to the island for spring break.
Two 17-year-old girls, were intercepted by Police at Dunwich allegedly carrying approximately 80 cans of alcohol and two bottles of spirits.
Both received Liquor Infringement Notices with a fine of $256 each.
Acting Inspector Janelle Harm Bayside Patrol Group is reminding young people to act responsibly and to think about their actions.
“We want young people visiting the island to be safe and to enjoy their holidays within the law. Decisions you make today could have a lasting impact on your future.”
“Providing alcohol to under-age children is an offence and could lead to serious consequences as well as fines of up to $3000,’ Inspector Harm said.
