Capalaba Junior Rugby League is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and congratulates all 17 teams from under-6 through to under-18 for another great year.
Four teams made grand finals this year, which is by far the best result in our district.
The under-12s had to do it the hard way by winning two semi-finals before a close loss in the grand final, going down 16-6 to minor premiers South Graceville.
The under-13s were the best team in the competition all year, finishing minor premiers and they thrashed Carina in the grand final 44-24.
The under-15 div 3 side also had a stellar year, winning the Chairman's Trophy, then the minor premiership and finished the season with a hard fought grand final win over Mustangs by 26-18.
The under-15 div 1 side also won Chairman's Trophy and finished the season as minor premiers but lost the major semi-final to Mitchelton, which meant they had to play a big and physical Logan brothers side to make the grand final. They won this match 34-22, giving them another shot against Mitchelton in the grand final. The final was a tough encounter with Mitchelton leading 12-8 at half time before a committed forward pack laid the foundation for Capalaba to win 28-12.
All players and supporters are invited to presentation day on October 11 starting at 3.30pm and finishing with fireworks to celebrate the year and remember the Capalaba Warrior Junior Rugby League Club's 30-year history.
