Experienced journalist Jeff Freak has been appointed editor of the Redland City Bulletin.
Jeff has had an extensive career working as a journalist and editor on country and rural newspapers.
He has been a journalist and sub-editor on the Redland-based newspapers for several years.
Jeff has previously served as editor of the Northern Daily Leader at Tamworth and as group editor for The Armidale Express, Inverell Times and Glen Innes Examiner.
He has worked as the chief sub-editor at The Land, based in Sydney, and as deputy editor of the Daily Liberal group of newspapers at Dubbo.
He came to Cleveland 25 years ago as production editor of Queensland Country Life and associated rural publications based at Ormiston.
Jeff has also worked for the Courier Mail and Quest newspapers in Brisbane.
He has a distinguished record of involvement in the local Redland community and is a past president and current vice-president of the Rotary Club of Cleveland. He is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship awardee.
As well as participating in sporting organisations over the years, Jeff is an accomplished musician, having trained in piano through the NSW Conservatorium of Music and Trinity College of Music, London.
Previous long-time Redland editor Brian Hurst has taken up the role as Queensland and Northern Territory digital editor.
Brian will still play an active role with Redland City Bulletin through driving its website and growing the on-line content for the newspapers in the group.
