Redlands Tigers 4th grade batsmen Justin Kersey and Anthony Mailli made the boys from the Northern suburbs chase leather on day one of their two-day game as they both scored centuries.
Justin made 106 and Anthony 104 as their team finished on 337.
UK player Adam Ball made his debut with Redlands last Saturday and what a day he had, taking six wickets and scoring 19 runs in a low scoring game. Gold Coast were dismissed for 100 thanks to Adam and Jon Stimpson, who chipped in with two wickets. Redlands declared at 7 for 109 with Greg Moller top scoring with 35. Gold Coast are 1 for 3 in their second innings.
Other players of the week were 2nd grade skipper Steven Moss, who scored 89, along with another fine innings from Liam Hope-Shackley, who scored a valuable 50 runs. Lachlan Brayley took 3 for 40 in 3rd grade, Michael Dwyer top scored in 6th grade no 1 with 43, closely followed by Mathew Williamson on 40 runs.
In 6th grade no 2 Mitch Read took 4 for 14 and Lance Parsons is batting well to be 59 not out after day one.
Congratulations to Redlands 1st grade player Simon Milenko, who made his debut with the Qld Bulls against the NSW Blues at the weekend and scored with 54.
Junior cricket has started in the BEARS and Redlands competitions. Any young players interested in joining a team should contact their local club.
