Commonwealth and Olympic gold medallist Glynis Nunn-Cearns was among a team of coaches providing expert track and field advice at Redlands Little Athletics' inaugural Athlete Development Day on Sunday.
Glynis is the only Australian to have won an Olympic multi-discipline athletics event, having won gold in the heptathlon at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
She is also the executive director of the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association and has been a coach to World Youth and World Junior Australian teams.
She and her team of coaches, all of whom are current or former athletes who have represented Australia, attended the local club on Sunday to help the young athletes fine tune their skills.
Redlands Little Athletics president Linda Sorensen said the day was a great success and the club was now looking at including the event in its annual program.
"The committee see this as a great initiative to assist our under nine to 17 years athletes across a number of events, as they will be able to utilise the skills learnt in their preparation for club and at higher level competition," she said.
Linda said the club was delighted to have Glynis lead the coaching event, as her association with Athletics Australia and close association with a number of high profile athletes and coaches was of immense benefit to the young members.
