A TEAM of Kimberley College maths and engineering students has been named the best in the country.
The college team won first place in the inaugural national championships after notching up top spot in Queensland at the OptiMinds Thinking Skills Championships at The University of Queensland.
Kimberley College teams also qualified for the state finals after a record number of first places at the South Coast Regional competition.
The college's open team also won the state division and will join the engineering team on a trip to New Zealand in November to exchange ideas and strategies with other students.
The college's commitment to OptiMinds is in recognition of the need to develop creative problem-solving through student-directed strategies.
Over the years, Kimberley has won more than 100 regional awards and 11 state awards.
