Queensland prisoners with links to the Bandidos and Mongols motorcycle clubs have been caught up in an alleged drug smuggling syndicate, police say.
Overnight and on Thursday morning, anti-bikie police carried out raids at a Queensland prison, along with properties in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Biloela, Bundaberg and Maryborough.
Police allege the syndicate was trafficking the drug ice, cannabis and the synthetic opioid buprenorphine.
"We will allege that these criminal gangs have been operating drug trafficking syndicates from areas of Queensland and from within Queensland correctional centres," Detective Inspector Terry Lawrence said.
"It is my expectation that at the conclusion of today's proceedings a number of persons, including inmates within correctional centres, are charged with the serious offence of trafficking drugs."
Police said the three-month investigation, named Operation Mike Clyde, was carried out with support from Queensland Correctional Services.
Taskforce Maxima said the operation was continuing on Thursday morning and more details would be made public in the afternoon.
