St Anthony's Catholic Primary School classes flew by on Thursday afternoon, courtesy of a surf life saving helicopter.
The school's oval turned into a makeshift helipad for the Surf Life Saving Queensland chopper and its three crew members, who stopped by to teach the students about surf safety.
With only six weeks left until the summer holidays, the crew took the students through the basics of lifesavers' beach flag system and how to wave if they need help.
SLSQ lifesaving services manager Peta Lawlor said the crews had provided timely advice to the children, with the helicopter as a memorable backdrop.
"At the end of the day we are hoping to equip these kids with some vital beach safety skills that they'll be able to take with them this summer and, hopefully, for the rest of their lives," she said.
