PARKING problems around Capalaba State College during Sunday markets may be a thing of the past after Redland City Council marked yellow parking lines on School Road.
The lines indicate where cars can safely park without blocking residents' driveways or hindering traffic flow.
Council already erected signs preventing parking in side streets and also ensured LED signs were installed directing visitors to park in the school grounds.
Division 9 councillor Paul Gleeson said market operator Mark Fairbairn would foot the bill for the work carried out by council officers last week.
Cr Gleeson said council was aware of the impact the markets had on nearby residents and would continue to monitor the situation.
Council received a properly made submission for the markets at the beginning of September and Cr Gleeson said it was continuing to work with Mr Fairbairn to resolve areas of concern including parking, dust and noise.
He said council would only approve the application when it was satisfied all areas of concern were sufficiently resolved.
Cr Gleeson said he had not heard about a push by Capalaba ALP state candidate Don Brown for rates to be cut in the area to compensate for any inconveniences created by the markets.
Last month, Mr Brown took up the plight of Neville and Denise Byrne, who have lived in School Road since 1969.
"We have lived here for close to 45 years even before the school opened, the least the council could have done is consult us before the markets opened," Mr Byrne said.
"Since the markets opened, we have had real estate agents knocking on our door, asking if we wanted to move.
"Council has made it clear the markets are here to stay, we think it is only fair we are compensated in some way."
