There have been a few bull sharks caught in the Albert and Logan rivers daybreak in deep holes has been the most productive for boat anglers and the jetties at Skinners Park Carbrook has been one of the better land based locations.
A few early season mangrove jacks were caught from the northern Broadwater, Coomera River and Pig Styles at Jumpinpin.
Mud crabs have been almost non-existent, although there have been good catches of sand crabs in the Tweed River surprisingly on the run out tide, and in the northern Broadwater and southern bay along North Stradbroke Island.
There has been some mackerel and tuna action in Moreton Bay this week, with most of the mackerel around the bottom end of Moreton Island to the top end of North Stradbroke Island.
Their main diet seems to be diver whiting, so targeting areas where they are usually caught is a good place to start looking.
There have also been reports of tuna in the northern bay.
You're in with a chance of seeing a school anywhere from the Brisbane River leads north, so keep your gear rigged and ready if you're in that area.
There have been lots of small snapper caught on the artificial reefs and island shallows although it has been hard to get a decent sized one.
Brisbane River is turning up a lot of threadfin as well as a few small mulloway and snapper.
On the offshore scene, small snapper, dolphinfish and trag are the main species being caught. Sharks have been a nuisance, stealing hooked fish.
No sign of spotty mackerel numbers yet, and those trolling lures are still turning up mainly tuna and bonito.
On the freshwater scene, reports from barra dams to our north are encouraging with catches improving by the week.
There are big schools of bass off Pelican Point in Somerset Dam and the Platypus Cliffs in Wivenhoe Dam.
