A huge well done to the 173 people who turned out this morning for Cleveland parkrun #78. Despite the lack of water and disrupted parking due to repairs to a broken water main everyone still managed to have a great time.
The results have been processed but we did have a small issue with the first few times today. If you finished in the top 10 and believe that you are showing in the wrong position contact us clevelandoffice@parkrun.com and we will investigate and correct the results.
Provisionally the 1st male across the line was Damon Bruce in 18:28 and our 1st female was Sandra Nauman in 21:10.
A big thanks to all our volunteers this morning, as you know this fabulous event wouldn't happen without your assistance.

Feedback from the Field
My parkrun Story
After a lot of encouragement from my PT & friend Deb Burdfield from Shedfit, I signed up to do parkrun. So on the 15th February 2014, I got up enough courage to go to parkrun at Cleveland. I was very hesitant, because I had never ran 5km in my life and I was not in great shape. My first run/walk was a struggle, but with the support of my husband Gavin and Deb I managed to finish in 45mins 15secs.
Since starting running in February, I have lost over 20 kilos and have had 9 PB's out of 10 runs at Cleveland (occasionally we run at Capalaba parkrun). My best time now is 28mins 58 secs! I never thought I would run 5kms let alone do it in under 30 mins. But with encouragement from my biggest supporters, Gavin and Deb I continue to surprise myself with what I can achieve. I have entered two running events!
parkrun is a fantastic family friendly event, that sees a group of like minded people coming together and encouraging each other to achieve their goals. From Parkrun we have met some lovely people and enjoy it so much that now we're encouraging others to join.
I have now, thanks to parkrun, caught the running bug and run 4 to 5 times a week. And Cleveland parkrun course is one of my favourites. I love the feeling you get after you've finished a great run, it's addictive!
Thanks Sharon Tucker
Reminders
Running in hot weather:
As the hot weather approaches, please remember to stay hydrated, carry water with you, run slower or walk if you have to. parkrun is not a race, there is no winner or loser. And don’t forget to slip, slop slap! (Slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen and slap on a hat).
Noise:
When arriving, please make sure you close your car doors as quietly as possible and keep the chit chat for when you arrive at our gathering area. Alternatively, you can also park on Fitzroy st, and then use the walk/jog across the oval as your warm up.
Also be mindful when running close to local resident houses. Whilst you are within your rights to talk, when running along these sections of the course, can you please keep noise to a reasonable level and do lots of high 5ing instead of cheering or shouting.
Children at parkrun:
All children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Guardians must ensure that children place themselves appropriately so as to prevent a situation where they are being repeatedly overtaken at the start. This is to ensure the safety of your child.
Barcode reminder:
Printed barcodes are used at all our events to record your result. Please click here to collect and print your barcode. No barcode = No result = No exceptions. #dfyb (don't forget your barcode). Not registered with parkrun? Click here to register.
