THE state government has extended the assessment period for a 4000-dwelling project in cow paddocks at Redland Bay until December 11.
State departments now have an extra 20 days to assess whether to allow the paddocks to be used for housing.
State Development, Infrastructure and Planning regional director Gary Krishna notified the developer, Shoreline Redlands, of the extension last week.
The extension was called for so the state had more time to assess plans for road works.
The new deadline will be the day after the last Redland City Council meeting for the year but will not affect the November 28 final date for public submissions to council about the project.
Redland city's Koala Action Group wrote to council last week asking for the public notification period to be extended.
The group complained about the lack of publicity about the Shoreline project, Redlands largest ever development.
