This year's Supanova Pop Culture Expo is simply packed full of appearances by best-selling and well-respected authors working across multiple genres.
Here are another five you can catch this weekend.
Matthew Reilly
New York Times best-selling author Matthew Reilly has sold over 7 million novels in over 20 languages. The Australian action thriller writer is most famous for Ice Station, Temple, Contest and Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves. Several of his books have been the biggest-selling Australian fiction titles of their year of release: The Tournament (2013), Seven Ancient Wonders (2005), and The Five Greatest Warriors (2009).
Matthew's also penned two novellas and several short stories. He's spoken at libraries across Australia and around the world, from Minlaton to Edinburgh, from Cape Town to Houston.
Matthew will participate in signing sessions on Saturday from 10.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm in both cities. He will also participate in a Q&A panel on both days.
Sean Williams
The prolific speculative fiction writer Sean Williams has had over 40 novels, 90 short stories, poems and a sci-fi musical published. He's been described as "the premier Australian speculative fiction writer of the age" in Aurealis Science Fiction and Fantasy magazine, the "Emperor of Sci-Fi" in the Adelaide Advertiser and the "King of Chameleons" in the Australian Book Review for the diversity of his output.
Sean's latest series are Troubletwisters, a fantasy for middle grade readers co-written with Garth Nix, andTwinmaker, a near-future thriller for young adults.
Sean will participate in signing sessions on Friday from 2.30pm to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm. Sean will also participate in a Q&A panel on Sunday.
JM Donellan
Writer, musician, slam poet and radio DJ JM Donellan had his debut novel, A Beginner's Guide to Dying in India, published in 2009. The "part comedy, part tragedy, part henna-drawn thriller peppered with romance and intrigue" was the winner of that year's IP Picks best fiction award.
JM's new novel, Killing Adonis, was released last month and his first play, We Are All Ghosts, was performed this year at Anywhere Theatre Festival. He's also written a children's fantasy novel, Zeb and the Great Ruckus.
Josh will be appearing on Friday from 2.30pm to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm. He will also participate in a Q&A panel about gender in fiction on Saturday.
Juliet Marillier
New Zealand born and raised Juliet Marillier has penned historical fantasy novels for adults and young adults. The former music teacher had her first novel, Daughter of the Forest, published in 1999 and has since given up teaching to be a fulltime writer, writing stories influenced by her love of folklore, fairytales and mythology.
Juliet had two novels published in 2014: The Caller, the final instalment of the Shadowfell series and Dreamer's Pool, the first book in the Blackthorn & Grim series. Her novels focus on human relationships and the personal journeys of the characters.
Juliet will participate in signing sessions on Friday in Brisbane from 2.30pm to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm. She will also participate in a Q&A panel on Saturday.
Scott Baker
Filmmaker and writer Scott Baker just finished working with Peter Jackson on his epic film trilogy The Hobbit. Previously, he's worked as a film industry consultant and lectured in digital video at the Australian National University. Scott's first novel, The Rule of Knowledge, was published last year and he's now working on a second novel and the development of two feature films. The debut action thriller has been recommended by Matthew Reilly, who described Scott as a "fantastic new talent."
Scott will be appearing on Friday from 2.30pm to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
