A SIMPLE gift of Anzac biscuits, a letter of support, some socks and a DVD is all it takes to make the day of an Australian Defence Member spending Christmas away from family and friends.
Federal MP Andrew Laming urged Redlanders preparing for Christmas to spare a thought for the 2200 Australian Defence Force personnel deployed overseas during the festive season.
Mr Laming said the best way to support Australia's troops was to send an email message of support to supportthetroops@defence.gov.au.
Redlanders looking to spread a bit more festive cheer can send a care package, or donate to the RSL's Australian Forces Overseas Fund.
Those wishing to send a care package, with free postage, must do so before Monday, December 8.
Packages can be no more than two kilograms, and should be packaged in a BM size box, available from Australia Post for $2.
Packages can be sent to An Australian Defence Member, AFPO 60, Australian Defence Force, NSW, 2890.
For more information about what to include in a care package, or details on how to donate, phone 3821 0155 or visitwww.andrewlaming.com.au
