The Warwick, New York – a charming hotel with a rich social history in midtown Manhattan, it delivers a quintessential New York experience, from the bellman to the revolving lobby door. See warwickhotelny.com.
AIRLINE
Qantas. There's this split-second euphoria when you board a Qantas flight overseas and are greeted by an Aussie accent. It feels like a homecoming. Mind you, all that fades when the reality of the long haul back to Oz kicks in.
RESORT
Vomo, Fiji. It's the perfect blend of relaxed luxury and adventure activities so you're not left feeling like a castaway. The setting is extraordinary and the high-quality food is what distinguishes it from other resorts in the region. See vomofiji.com.
LUGGAGE
I gave up the bottomless pit shoulder bag for travelling years ago. Everyone wanted something from that bag exactly at the moment I couldn't move my arms to access it. I now take a small Samsonite Cosmolite Spinner onboard. It's lightweight, rolls beautifully and in a surprising twist, my family rarely demands anything out of it.
ACCESSORY
A pashmina scarf. There's no end to what you can do at 30,000 feet with one of these. My favourite thing, much to the embarrassment of my husband and son, is to fashion elaborate headwear to aid noise reduction.
NEXT ADVENTURE
My whole family is heading to Mykonos in the middle of 2015 for my father's 70th birthday. Psarou is something else. It's home to Nammos, the famous beach restaurant. Even if you only do it once in your life, you need to experience fine dining and Champagne, dressed only in your bathers covered in sunscreen and sand. See namos.gr.
