Redland Performing Arts Centre buzzed with activity recently as almost 400 volunteers visited the Volunteering Redlands Volunteer Expo.
Held on International Volunteer Day, the event was a celebration of volunteerism in the Redlands and presented community organisations with an opportunity to recruit new volunteers.
Volunteering Redlands chairwoman Patsy Wilshire said the expo marke the International Volunteer Day, designated by the United Nations for recognising volunteer involvement in our community.
Also on the day, the Greg Cook Volunteer Recognition Award winner was also announced, with former Redland Museum president Ross Bower being awarded the honour for his "unwavering commitment, tireless dedication and outstanding leadership".
It was also a significant day for not-for-profit organisations to honour the outstanding work and contribution of their volunteers.
"Volunteers are the heart of our community and we extend a warm invitation to all volunteers to visit the expo, enjoy a free lunch, network with fellow volunteers and explore the best of volunteering opportunities in Redlands," she said.
