Redland City sweltered today with temperatures in the mid-thirties for most of Wednesday.
According to the Redland Weather Station at Capalaba, the highest temperature today was 35.8 C at 10.36am, but mostly the temperature fluctuated between 33.6C and 34.4C, before dropping down to 32C around 3pm
Closer to the coast, at Brisbane Airport, the temperatures hovered around 30C and 31C, peaking at 32C at 1.30pm.
In Brisbane the temperature reached 34.6C at 2.30pm and stayed at around 34C for most of the afternoon, but its apparent temperatures were well into the 36C range for much of the afternoon.
The forecast for Thursday is a top of 31C and partly cloudy with a 95 per cent chance of showers from the late morning. A thunderstorm is likely during the afternoon or evening, possibly severe. Light winds becoming north to northwesterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the late afternoon.
