Former Bronco and State of Origin player Jharal Yow Yeh, sidelined after snapping the bone in his leg, made a whistle-stop visit to Alexandra Hills State High to promote rugby league this month.
He visited the school Capalaba MP Steve Davies hopes to transform into the best rugby league school in the state.
Mr Davies was with the former Bronco, now a sport development officer, when he announced plans to allocate $400,000 to upgrade the school's league facilities if he wins at next year's state election.
Mr Davies said the money would be spent on new toilets, change rooms, upgrading the playing field and training lights for night sessions.
If re-elected, Mr Davies also promised a further $400,000 in the following year to kick the school off to a good start as one of the best league training grounds on the south side.
