THE wait for their Overall Position (OP) has ended for high school graduates across Queensland after results were released to OP-eligible students online on Saturday and by post on Monday.
Celebrating the highest achievement an OP1 is former Wellington Point State High School student Kevin Jordan.
Kevin, who in addition to his Year 12 studies also completed study units in engineering and mathematics this year through QUT, said he attributed much of his success to having been periodically home-schooled by his mother during his primary school years.
"Mum put countless hours into my schooling while we were travelling the US because of Dad's work," he said.
"She always made sure I studied an Australian curriculum, which kept my study consistent."
Kevin said he was pleased with his result.
"It's a good feeling knowing I've been ranked among the highest in the state in terms of my academic ability," he said.
A high achieving baseball player for Redlands Baseball Club, Kevin said he was in talks with several colleges in the United States about a sports scholarship in baseball.
"I hope to start studying a degree in engineering at UQ in the first semester next year and then in September go to play college baseball in the US and complete my degree there," he said.
"I love science and engineering, though, so even if I get lucky and have a great sports career, I'd still pursue science and engineering."
