CLEVELAND author Brad Higgens has been passionate about creative writing since the age of 11 and his first novel, Talisman of Blood, reflects that passion.
As book one of Higgens' Shadow of the Gryphon trilogy, the novel begins the story of a world on the edge of chaos, as the 12 gryphons and their riders legendary agents of peace and order no longer exist.
The series follows the lives caught up in the turmoil and struggle for the gryphon riders to be reborn and end the torment of mortals by evil forces.
Higgens said the series was born entirely from imagination.
"I have a fascination with history, a fascination with eastern European cultures, and my favourite authors all write medieval fantasy," he said.
"All those fascinations come together in this trilogy."
Higgens said book two, Malice of the Valkyries was complete and ready for publication and he was now working on book three, Empire of the Poisoned Chalice.
