Six Masters athletes from around the Redlands competed at the Queensland Athletics Relay Championships in December.
They were among nearly 70 members of Queensland Masters Athletics who made up 43 teams competing across a range of running, walking, jumping and throwing events.
Team captain and manager Julie Brims competed in the Women 30+ age group and finished the day with three gold (4 x 100m, 4 x 400m and long jump) and two silver medals in javelin and discus.
QMA president Irene Davey competed in the Women 50+ divisions and won gold in the 4 x 800m and long jump, and silver in the 4 x 400m and 4 x 1500m.
Two runners competed in relays in the Men 50+ age group. Pio Bunin scored a bronze medal in the 4 x 100m and silver in the 4 x 400m. Rick Milnes did well with a silver medal in the 4 x 100m.
In the teams throwing events, there were two local athletes competing in the Men 50+ age group. Peter Frangenheim won silver in the javelin and bronze in the shot put and discus.
Kevin Davis won gold in all three events, and also participated in a walk relay.
All the results from the day will be entered in the National Postal Relay competition for Masters athletes from all states across Australia.
Queensland Masters Athletics will resume competition at the SAF track at Nathan on January 10 in the lead-up to the State Championships in March and the National Championships in Sydney at Easter.
