Saturday was a bad day to fly in south-east Queensland, with two helicopter crashes within hours of each other in the region.
Luckily for those on board there were no serious injuries in either accident.
A police spokesman said they were called about a helicopter crash off Captain Cook Parade at Deception Bay about 1.10pm.
The helicopter had come down in what the spokesman described as a "fairly heavy landing" on the mudflats off Deception Bay.
The pilot, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital for observation while fire and Moreton Bay Regional Council crews worked out how to remove the chopper wreck.
Earlier on Saturday, a helicopter crashed on to its side at Archerfield Airport.
Queensland Ambulance paramedics assessed two people at the scene, neither of whom was injured.
