Triathlon Australia held its National Youth Championships at Twin Waters, on March 13, with Sheldon College students taking first and second places in the 17/18 year girls' race.
Katinka von Elsner-Wellsteed, who moved to Sheldon College at the start of last year to join the Triathlon School of Excellence program, is the 2015 national champion, and Joanne Miller, who converted to triathlon only just over 18 months ago, finished just behind Katinka in second place.
Theirs was a very exciting race, with about nine competitors all in one tight group at the transition after the swim and cycle legs.
These results show the quality of the program offered at Sheldon College, with the girls defeating top interstate competitors, many of whom have been in the sport much longer than Katinka and Joanne.
All other Sheldon College competitors performed well, with many finishing towards the front of their race fields.
These are outstanding results for a program that only began two years ago.
Congratulations go to head coach Chris Lang and Jarrod Pleass for their tireless efforts with the school's triathlon program.
